22. Spielstadt Mini München

In the organizer's words:

Mini-Munich, the city of children and young people,has been the largest vacation program in the state capital of Munich for 45 years and an internationally acclaimed model project for cultural education.

In summer 2024, up to 2,000 citizens aged between seven and 15 will once again come together every day in their own city, for the second time on the grounds of the Showpalast.

Over 40 partners from business, culture, administration, media, trade and science are involved, making Mini-Munich a large, diverse and exciting city.

The basic rules of the city game are simple. All children between the ages of seven and 15 can take part, free of charge and without registration.

Once immersed in city life, they slip into the most diverse roles of an urban society, which can be tried out, interpreted and improvised. The special feature: In Mini-Munich, children and young people go about their work.

Every year, adult visitors are amazed at how pleasure and performance are combined. The mini-Munichers create their own urban reality in an instant through co-production, an enormous dynamic of complex relationships and temporary events: they organize elections and markets, make headlines, welcome international guests, create new traffic routes, celebrate festivals and collect garbage. Time and again, they touch on everyday life in the big city of Munich.

Adult experts from various fields of work are available as co-players and pass on their knowledge. This creates interactions between play and reality. A unique, attractive and productive learning environment is created from the wealth of experience of an entire urban society and the independence of the children's wishes and imagination.
