Recycle - Berlin's finest Drum'n'Bass is 28 years old.
Recycle is one of the longest-running regular drum'n'bass event series in the world. Everyone who is anyone in this circuit has been a guest here - and loves to come back. Some have been with us from the very beginning and newcomers are also regularly given a platform. The fact that drum'n'bass is multifaceted and constantly evolving is something you can experience again and again at Recycle. And despite all the changes, there is one constant: the atmosphere is always at boiling point, if not higher. A big thank you to all the artists and especially to our great audience. Drum'n'bass heads: You are the best!
Black Sun Empire are among the most prominent representatives of neurofunk. The quality of their drum samples is brilliant, as is the dark atmosphere. With Blackout Music and the associated club night, they have created a platform on which many other artists can develop alongside themselves. The trio from Utrecht has always placed great value on collaborations: On their 2013 remix album "Variations On Black", almost all well-known neurofunk producers contributed. Their album "The Wrong Room" includes features from Noisia, Pythius, State Of Mind, Virus Syndicate, Thomas Oliver, Audio, Dope D.O.D., Belle Doron, Prolix, Sarah Hezen and Neonlight. At this point we take a quick breath, because with Black Sun Empire it just goes on and on and their blackout parties are legendary. That's why there's also a blackout night this year for Recycle's birthday, naturally with the heads of the empire.
Audio will be there, the Londoner released his seventh album "Where The Chaos Lies" on Blackout in April: Dark, foreboding, raw and futuristic, he tackles the subject of artificial intelligence. His sets are dark, driving and uncompromising, mercilessly tearing down boundaries. Audio's career as a producer began in the early 00s as part of Resonant Evil, with whom he released on Renegade Hardware, Moving Shadow, G2 and Outbreak. He then went solo, starting with the neuro pioneers of Tech Freak Recordings, Virus, RAM and Blackout.
The Viennese DJ Youphoria likes to mix neurofunk with technoid drum'n'bass so as not to be restricted by sub-genres, the aim is to connect and transcend. In just three years, she has managed to be booked internationally, supported acts such as Camo & Krooked, Dimension and Sub Focus, played numerous festivals and is getting ready to launch her own material as a producer.
Together with the Recycle Crew and our residents, there will once again be drum'n'bass for your heart, soul and dancing shoes.
Be sure to check out Box2 as well. There, the crews from deviate, Impulse Basskultur and Bassism regularly explore the many facets of bass music and for this year's anniversary of Recycle, our favorite collectives will be together on this evening, which can only be a good thing.
