After a celebrated performance in the 2019/2020 season, nuovo aspetto is once again a guest in Duisburg: the name of the ensemble, founded in 2011 by lutenist Michael Dücker and the sisters Johanna and Elisabeth Seitz, is to be understood quite literally: The members of nuovo aspetto are namely interested in using unusual instrumentations to focus on an unusual repertoire and often even previously unheard music. The extensive research in libraries and archives necessitated by this concept has led to detective work, the results of which are made directly tangible by the ensemble for today's audiences. And this also applies to this concert, in which numerous works are on the program that nuovo aspetto will perform live before an audience for the first time ever, including arias with concertante instruments such as the box zither salterio, which was widespread in the 18th century. With Valer Sabadus, who was awarded the 2021 Music Prize of the City of Duisburg, one of the currently most sought-after countertenors will also be taking part.
