A program brimming with wit, humor, and French charm, featuring a keen sense of timbre, rhythm, and joie de vivre, is conducted by the young conductor Tim Hüttemeister. Georges Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1 opens the evening in a festive and passionate spirit: Spanish temperament, melancholic melodies, and irresistible rhythms characterize one of the most popular stage works in music history. The young flutist Finja Hähndel takes on the solo part in Cécile Chaminade’s 1902 *Concertino for Flute and Orchestra*, a sparkling gem of lightness and lyrical charm. Darius Milhaud’s *Le bœuf sur le Toit* brings Parisian wit and Brazilian fire to the program, inspired by South American dances and boundless imagination. Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 103, “With the Drum Roll,” combines humor, inventiveness, and symphonic sophistication.
