9. Tango Sommer Festival Heidelberg

For one week, from September 7 to 13, Heidelberg will become an international hub for Argentine tango: featuring workshops, afternoon and evening dance sessions—both indoors and outdoors—live orchestras from Argentina, shows with international tango stars, and dancers from the Tango Center Heidelberg.

Dancing will take place at the new Tango Center Heidelberg at Mary-Somerville-Platz 5 as well as at special locations throughout the city—including Heidelberg Castle, the Stadthalle, and other atmospheric venues.

The festival brings Argentine tango—a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage—right into the heart of the city, allowing guests, tango dancers, and curious visitors alike to experience Heidelberg’s tango culture. On select dates, there will also be free introductory classes for beginners and anyone who’d like to try tango for themselves.
