The use of the word "legend" should be handled with care. Especially nowadays, when every meme or even its creator is all too quickly considered legendary. But with the Manchester band A Certain Ratio, you can use it without hesitation. After all, the band, founded in 1977 (!), released on the two British uber-indie labels Factory (the home of Joy Division) and Mute (where Depeche Mode's global career began) and performed at the equally (rightly) legendary Hacienda Club. After the band had become somewhat quieter in the 90s, the post-punk revival of the noughties gave A Certain Ratio a second spring - and now even a third. Especially as the band are not just interested in maintaining their catalog, as they regularly release new albums. In 2023, the band released "1982", their eleventh studio album in the 46th year of the band's history. If that's not legendary, what is?
