At 16, Soraya begins to record her story. As an Afghan artist in Iran, she processes fear and longing in dark, poetic drawings and sculptures. Over the years, she records her attempts to escape and everyday life between Iran and the longing to see her mother again in exile in Austria. Cell phone recordings of border controls, news from Afghanistan and very personal moments are combined with Soraya's art. Drawings, sculptures and animations become part of a self-portrait that tells of violence, resistance and the desire for a self-determined life.
