Language version: OmeU
For decades, thousands of children in New Zealand were taken from their families and placed in a system that was supposed to protect them. But instead they experienced violence and abuse. Many of them were Māori, the indigenous people of New Zealand. Today, survivors break their silence and tell of stolen childhoods and lost identity. The film combines personal testimonies with the historical and political reappraisal of structural violence - and shows how closely this injustice is interwoven with colonial structures right up to the present day.
