Poetic drama about a child's friendship with his grandmother in Argentina during the economic crisis.
Argentina, 2001: As the financial system collapses in the wake of the economic crisis, little Manuel's family is forced to leave their home. They find shelter in the house of his grandmother, a strange woman who keeps spotting invisible intruders in the darkened corridors and rooms. Despite his parents' warnings, who see nothing but contagious madness in these visions, Manuel feels drawn to the old woman. In the cramped atmosphere of the family home, a strange alliance develops between grandmother and grandchild...
In dense, fairytale-like images, director Matías Ferreyra interweaves a piece of Argentina's recent history with the intimacy of memory. With great caution, the camera delves into the perception of a child for whom there seems to be no space; and at the same time folds a reflection on family and loneliness, death and community into the silent faces and enigmatic gazes of these figures.
