Acts ‘n Sounds 18 – no vintage

In the organizer's words:

With the No Vintage program, Ensemble Garage is dedicated to perspectives on contemporary music in which electronics and instrumental sound enter into a lively dialogue.

The focus is on the question of how electronic sound production can be further developed in contemporary music today: as a research space, as a material, as an aesthetic practice and as a sounding board for social and technological developments. Ensemble Garage draws on the formative lines of electronic music and, together with composers of the present day, transfers them into a current sonic context.

The program includes works by Malte Giesen, Brigitta Muntendorf, Luís Antunes Pena, Roman Pfeifer and Oxana Omelchuk, including new versions of Roman Pfeifer's When I say we I mean my tape recorder and me and Oxana Omelchuk's Grattage Nr. 3.

Since its foundation in 2009, the ensemble has been working at the interface of contemporary music, transmediality and performative formats. With its concert series Acts 'n Sounds and numerous collaborations in Germany, Europe and the USA, Ensemble Garage creates international networks and develops innovative impulses for new music.

The concert is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Musikfonds, the Kunststiftung NRW and the GEMA-Stiftung.
