Damn, it happened again! Not only have ADAM ANGST recorded a new album, their third, no, they have also written songs again that fit so mercilessly perfect into the social, German now that it really hurts. Because let's put it this way: it doesn't look good. For all of us. The third album by Felix Schönfuss, David Frings, Roman Hartmann, Christian Kruse and Johannes Koster goes by the name of "TWIST" and will be released on November 17, 2023 via Grand Hotel van Cleef. The first single from the album is called "Die Lösung für deine Probleme", released on 21.07.23 and is unfortunately, unfortunately, unfortunately more topical today than in 2021, when it was originally written. Singer Felix Schönfuss describes it like this: "2021: In the midst of the wasteland of the second lockdown, I finally implemented my plan to learn the piano. At least I wanted to be able to play a few chords fluently. After two months, I was amazed at how quickly one can achieve initial success with a little motivation and the YouTube search term 'Famous piano songs tutorial easy'. Although I still can't read a single note and a piano teacher would probably hit my hands 80 times with a cane while yelling 'FINGERSATZ!', it was enough to write my first song on the piano for ADAM ANGST: 'The solution to your problems'." Indeed, "Die Lösung für deine Probleme" is, purely musically, an exceedingly atypical song for the band, whose core competence usually lies in the realm of "guitar banging at 180bpm+." Over two thirds of the song we hear Felix Schönfuss solo on the piano, before the orchestra enters for the grand finale and, admittedly, lays it on a bit thick. But hey - what else can you do, except to resort to such means, when reality makes so completely no sense anymore, so purely objective. No one could have expected how topical it all becomes again: "The AfD was not really on everyone's lips in 2021. The problems 'back then' were simply greater. Of course, as so often before, the party abused every concern, insecurity and ill-feeling among the population to bleat some pointlessness in the direction of the government, but this time I almost had the feeling that this party itself had even noticed that such a complex issue was definitely beyond its horizons," Schönfuss recalls. "I've been driven ever since by the question of what makes people seriously vote for the AfD... unless they're already convinced Nazis anyway. One of the reasons is certainly the promise of simple solutions, however inhumane they may be. I find it almost fascinating how this party so brazenly appeals to the basest instincts in its campaigns, without even having the slightest idea of how to implement anything and what the consequences will be. Donald Trump was a similar accident that we clicked amused from afar. But now it's crashing on our own doorstep." The mechanism since then has remained, has only become more obdurate, and ever more stupid: "It's the others' fault. Those with an immigrant background. Or the LGBTQ+ community. Or the left-wing greenies who let it all happen. First and foremost, the AfD does this because the AfD is a right-wing party. Simple but true. But it also does it because it secretly knows that all the problems of our time have much more complex and global origins that can also only be solved together. The AfD knows that it is too stupid to do so! So the mission is 'Easy Target' and collect votes: 'If your breakfast egg is not hard enough for you, then find and kill the chicken'." The song already celebrated its live premiere in the summer of 2022, when ADAM ANGST played in front of 45,000 people at the sold-out RheinEnergie Stadium at the invitation of Die Ärzte. Bela B., a declared admirer of the band, made reference to the song in his announcement before "Schrei nach Liebe": "I was really impressed by Adam Angst's first song today. It's not easy to write a song against the brown plague, against the right-wing assholes, without it being embarrassing. I don't think many bands have succeeded in doing that, and ADAM ANGST has! We also wrote one once on the subject, stupidly still relevant..." 2023: The AfD wins a district office in Sonneberg for the first time.
