With his mesmerizing playing style, Alex takes his audience on a journey through a wide spectrum of emotions.

He discovered his love for music at a young age, but was mostly on the side of the listeners and dancers. He found shelter and vitality in the beauty of the world's diverse music.

His journey led him to the handpan by chance in 2014 - a unique and versatile instrument that he taught himself. With his deep understanding of the instrument, Alex creates complex and soulful melodies, harmonies and rhythms that showcase his technical prowess and emotional depth.

Through his music he reveals himself, creating a unifying experience and a warm afterglow that listeners take home with them and often carry with them for a long time.

Throughout his career, Alex has played at numerous festivals and concerts around the world, mesmerizing audiences with his creativity and passion for music. For about seven years, he toured and created together with Malte Marten as Yatao, achieving worldwide success both live and online.

Alexander Mercks is an artist who continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with the handpan. He inspires and captivates audiences with his unique and mesmerizing sound.

As one of the best-known handpan artists worldwide, he had great success with his debut album "Osmosis".

In 2024, Alexander Mercks will play a European tour to present "Osmosis" and newer, as yet unreleased works.
