In her new book, the renowned Holocaust researcher Andrea Löw presents a comprehensive overview for the first time: Based on hundreds of letters, postcards, diaries, video recordings and other sources, Andrea Löw weaves the individual stories into a harrowing testimony, which is all the more important as the last surviving victims of the Shoah will soon no longer be able to tell their stories themselves. By allowing the victims themselves to speak, the people become visible. As mothers, children, grandparents, lovers, young and old, they describe their fears and hopes, the stages leading up to their departure, the transportation and survival in the ghetto. Anyone who wants to know what is behind the names and places on the many stumbling blocks in German cities will find the stories of the people in this book.

The historian Prof. Dr. Andrea Löw is deputy director of the Center for Holocaust Studies at the Institute of Contemporary History in Munich and honorary professor at the Department of Contemporary History at the University of Mannheim.
