ANDY LUTTER

Thanks to his wide-ranging interests, Andy Lutter is at home as a pianist and composer in a variety of musical genres, some of which are quite diverse. In addition to training in jazz piano and arrangement in Munich (Joe Haider), Boston (Herb Pomeroy), and Berlin (Walter Norris), he completed his studies in classical composition at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich (Vadim Suchanov, Rochus Gebhardt) and possesses both a solid foundation in the Western tradition and a familiarity with contemporary popular music. Furthermore, he has a keen interest in folkloric and ethnic characteristics in music.
As a die-hard Munich native, the city’s culturally rich landscape—with its monarchical history and vibrant cultural scene—is a place for him to live and create.
This led quite naturally to his collaboration with the Münchner Lach-und-Schieß-Gesellschaft, his composition of music for the reopening of the Roseninsel, and his long-standing work with the Jazzfest München.

He has also served as musical director, pianist/keyboardist, and conductor for numerous theater and musical productions (Eyes & Ears Theater Company, Lola Blau, Jesus Christ Superstar, *Evita*, *Elvis*, *Hair*, *Hello Dolly*, *Sweet Charity*, *Into the Woods*, *Daniel*, *Dangerous Liaisons*)
and has worked on various projects as an arranger and studio musician, as well as a pianist and keyboardist. (Werner Schneyder, Paul Engel, John Scott, Peter Wolf, Munich Symphony Orchestra, Munich State Opera, Munich Radio Orchestra, Augsburg City Theater, Gärtnerplatztheater Munich, Scala Musical AG, etc.)
He was a member of the ensemble “Flügel°Schlag!”—three grand pianos, three pianists, three composers, featuring Gert Wilden and Ralf Schmid.
as well as the group “Drum For Your Life” (world percussion music) with Rudolf Roth, Claudio Wilner, Gunnar Geisse, and Marcio Tubino.
From ’99–’01, he was the musical director and songwriter for the Münchner Lach&Schieß-Gesellschaft.

In addition, he is a board member of the Jazzmusiker Initiative München e.V. (J.I.M.) and has been organizing the Jazz-Fest-München since ’98.
He has collaborated extensively with Gert Wilden on film scores.

Since 2010, organist with ENDERS DOME alongside Johannes Enders, Nils Petter Molvaer, and others.
Since 2015: Literary readings with Vera Lippisch (thematic compositions/improvisations for piano)
Theater work in 2019: “Thus Spoke Zarathustra—The Vera Brühne Scandal Trial,” an independent theater production—improvisational solo piano with staged actions.
He is a freelance composer and pianist in Munich.
