About the intermedia exhibition AUSSER_ORDENTLICH - Review - Insight - Outlook
The intermedia exhibition explores four decades of performance art by Angie Hiesl + Roland Kaiser. It is part of the event series "AUSSER_ORDENTLICH - Rückblick - Einblick - Ausblick", which looks back at the interventions in private and public urban space and at the same time looks forward.
Works in the form of film projections, photos and some artifacts will be exhibited. There will also be a meeting space where talks will take place. These public discussions with a wide variety of discussion partners will deal with the topics of performance art in public space, artistic reuse of urban space and open urban space.
The three-week exhibition is conceived as an artistic-experimental show of works, in the sense of an independent audiovisual installation space: video and photographic material documenting the performances of Angie Hiesl + Roland Kaiser from the past decades and thus their historical context will be arranged in the space as an installation. The exhibition will focus on a selection of projects due to the large scope of the work. These include well-known projects, but also those that have hardly been documented in a publicly accessible way to date, as well as projects that would probably no longer be approved today. The exhibition concept is focused on the space of the former Görtz shoe store, which is now empty.
The media installation invites visitors to engage with the exhibition and the artistic works, materials and themes presented there with all their senses. Angie Hiesl + Roland Kaiser realize the exhibition space in dialogue with the filmmaker Florian Dedek, a representative of a younger generation of artists. With this collaboration, the archive materials (photo, video) are reflected with a contemporary media perspective, transformed into a different media form and restaged in an intermedia narrative. The overall concept and curatorial development of the extensive project AUSSER_ORDENTLICH - Retrospect - Insight - Outlook was created in collaboration with the curators Tasja Langenbach and Annette Ziegert.
Together with the supporting program of talks, discursive and performative elements, the exhibition is intended to create a polyphonic dialogue between old and young, then and now, analogue and digital, public and private, interior and exterior space. Together, new perspectives for a free and creative use of urban space as a place of urban community will be formulated.
