Contemporary Latin Jazz, Modern Jazz
Ania Paz Trio presents a selection of her latest compositions in this long-awaited concert.
"The music of Ania Paz and her trio reflects intelligence, knowledge of the vast universes of academic and popular music and a very high sensitivity. Ania once again dares to structurally develop jazz beyond itself ... The artist also speaks about the importance of growing together between countries and people. She is the example of a woman who breaks boundaries in many dimensions."
Estefanía Romero, Bop Spots - Magazine for Jazz Research, Criticism and Promotion, Mexico

"Ania dares once again to push jazz beyond itself." Estefania Romero, Bop Spots, Jazz Magazine, Mexico
"A mixture of freedom and wisdom, ecstasy and serenity." José Arias Almanzar, Hoy newspaper, Dominican Republic
"The Peruvian-Spanish pianist is not only a leading music theorist, but also an ardent representative of a modern fusion between Latin jazz, improvisation and formal music. "Espacios" is her new exclamation point on the state of things...With her Ania Paz Trio...she has recorded a highly vital work that is never predictable, but sounds coherent at all times. Her rhythmic freshness forms a conciliatory contrast to the intellectuality inherent in her compositions. "Espacios" swings between modal innovation and world music in a sophisticated way - rich in detail, clear, self-confident and yet sensitive." Markus Will, Jazztime, BRF1 Radio, Belgium
"Lovers of jazz impressionism and subtle tranquillity will get their money's worth here. The mature expression and emotion in the statements of all members of the trio, their interesting and imaginative improvisations, the wide range of articulatory and technical means used, the consistency in the construction of the outlined stylistic idea, the mutual inspiration, the full partnership and the high musicality make this music a great listening pleasure." Jazz-Fun, Germany
"The Ania Paz Trio with Ania Paz on piano, Christoph Hillmann on drums and Carmelo Leotta on bass serves up a breakthrough. All of them take all the means of jazz in their hands and pulverize barriers...The album itself is literally bursting with joie de vivre, in love with detail and swinging, emotional and quick-witted, it celebrates the cultural universality of existence. It makes you want to dance...A great trio that explores the spaces in between and lets you experience them, because they fill the silence between people with kindness, spitting sound." Volly Tanner, SHALL Magazine, Germany

forums that deal with the role of women in music and jazz.
Ania Paz's compositions are rhythmic, fresh, experimental, diverse, intellectual and emotional at the same time. The trio expands these concepts through their innovative interpretation.
On drums, Christoph Hillmann is regarded as a particularly sensitive, detailed and powerful swinging multi-stylist between world music, various jazz traditions and avant-garde. On bass, Carmelo Leotta is a musician at home throughout Europe who has made the diversity of musical currents such as jazz, blues, electronic and world music his own.
