Antony and Cleopatra

Power. Passion. Loss.

The historic love between the Roman general Mark Antony and Cleopatra, the beautiful and powerful Queen of Egypt, is at the heart of Shakespeare’s play “Antony and Cleopatra.” Their love made them both immortal—yet in the end, it cost them everything: their honor, their reign, the Roman emperor’s loyalty, and ultimately, their lives.

In a new ballet production, choreographer Bridget Breiner explores their story, focusing on the duality of love and power, and the conflict between public responsibility and passionate desire.  Her characters always act in a deeply human way—contradictory, vulnerable, and sustained by true love.
