Sterling Ruby is one of the most significant artists in contemporary American art. Through comparisons such as “Gangsta Rothko,” Sterling Ruby is repeatedly placed in the same vein as the greats of American postwar art. In a half-hour guided tour, Anna Reimnitz (research intern) explains Sterling Ruby’s significance in American postwar art, focusing in particular on Ruby’s relationship to Minimalism.
