The Brothers Grimm Festival Hanau has created a timeless musical from the most popular fairy tale of all time. Cinderella tells the dreamlike story of Konstanze, who is humiliated by her stepmother and stepsisters. With the help of the fairy Griseldis, she secretly dances at a ball with Prince Benedict and wins his heart. An enchanting musical for the whole family with cross-genre music by Marc Schubring.
Once upon a time ...
... a kind-hearted girl whose life was made hell by her wicked stepmother Dorabella and her smug stepsisters. Poor Constance was forced to wash, clean and cook, had to sleep in the kitchen and was mocked and humiliated as "Cinderella".
But then everything changed - the king organized a grand ball to find a bride for his son, Prince Benedikt, as quickly as possible. With the help of the fairy godmother Griseldis and the fairytale doves, Cinderella managed to dance with the prince at the ball despite all the difficulties. It was love at first sight. The outcome is well known: In this new production, too, the prince follows his heart and the lost shoe finds its way to the right foot. And yet the new production tells a special version of the story.
The story of a courageous woman
Cinderella celebrates the perseverance and courage of a young woman who is repeatedly discriminated against, thwarted and frowned upon. It gives hope that no situation in real life is hopeless, that justice prevails and that everything will turn out well in the end.
New production with room for nostalgia
Bart De Clercq has created a new production of the traditional fairy tale that leaves plenty of room for nostalgia. The award-winning Belgian is responsible for the direction and choreography. Marc Schubring's music ranges from classical to pop to swing and typical musical sounds.
After successful productions such as The Fisherman and his Wife and Sleeping Beauty, we look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Brothers Grimm Festival Hanau in 2024 with Cinderella.
