Ásgeir
Support: Arny Margret
With his new album "Bury The Moon" (release date: February 7, 2020) Ásgeir will come to Germany for five shows in 2020! His shows in Hamburg and Berlin in February are already completely sold out. In April, the Icelandic singer-songwriter will play three more shows in Munich, Leipzig and Darmstadt!
In 2012, Ásgeir's acclaimed debut "Dýrð í dauðaþögn" was released and initially made him a legend in his home country Iceland. It became the fastest-selling domestic debut album in Iceland, shattering all records and even eclipsing the sales figures of Björk and Sigur Ros - statistically, there is a copy in every tenth Icelandic household.
In the past, Ásgeir, known for his silky smooth falsetto vocals, has been compared to artists such as Bon Iver, James Blake and Kings of Convenience. However, on his 2017 album "Afterglow," he perfected his own distinctive style. Now, the Icelandic singer-songwriter announced his new album "Bury The Moon," which will be released on February 7, 2020. The story that Ásgeir tells with "Bury The Moon" (in the original Icelandic Sátt) begins with a broken heart and a retreat. After the breakup of a long relationship, the musician wanted to escape everything and lose himself in the vastness of the Icelandic landscape. He retreated to one of the typical summer cottages popular with Icelanders and spent the winter there writing songs - alone with his guitar and thoughts that revolved around love and loss.
