Ashram
Arko Mukhaerjee & Kanishka Sarkar
Ashram is one of the first music projects from eastern India to fuse electronic music with the traditional melodies and songs of the subcontinent. A blend that creates a soundscape reflecting the contemporary Indian subcontinent -- where tradition and modernity go hand in hand. Ashram Songs take the audience on a journey through the subcontinent, with melodies of boat people, nomadic communities, Sufi philosophers and hard-working farmers, in other words, songs that celebrate the lives of ordinary people.
