Atelierabend Nr. 200
In the organizer's words:
Music! Theater! Art! Performance! Literature! Photos! Wine! Guests! Surprises! For his 200th studio evening, Helmut van der Buchholz presents a colorful overview of his past, present, and future cultural work.
Since 2009, Helmut van der Buchholz has been hosting a monthly studio evening (with brief breaks due to COVID-19) on a wide variety of topics and at very different locations—mostly in his actual studio at the Mundenheim Cemetery, but also at other venues. Since he has been a regular at dasHaus since the 1970s and has participated in countless events and activities there, the grand celebration of his 200th studio evening will also take place here.
In addition to traditional artistic disciplines such as painting, singing, and poetry, this evening will also feature other activities that are not (yet?) immediately associated with art and culture, but this evening is meant to be about culture in strange times and entertaining the audience, rather than clinging to traditional notions of art.
We must not forget that the current, parallel crises do not exactly invite us to celebrate. For the state of the world in general—and the city of Ludwigshafen in particular—will also be addressed this evening. And also, what role art and culture can play in these crises. After all, strange times call for strange methods.
The 200th anniversary of “Atelierabend” will be supported by guest contributions and messages of greeting from fellow artists and other distinguished representatives of our society. Exactly what will happen that evening, however, is to remain a closely guarded secret and will not be revealed. But we’ll explain just how easy it is to get involved in cultural life yourself.
In addition, the host will be spinning records and offering his own artwork at bargain prices—the kind you’d normally only find at a discount store. Free admission.
