Niveau unter Null 33

Noch niemand hat sich das Event gemerkt.

In the organizer's words:

Thursday, Dec. 17, starting at 8:00 p.m.

The Exhibition Opening

Uninspired paintings, trivial concepts that were nevertheless carried out, failed experiments, senseless production that misses the mark, botched preparations, geometric blunders, or simple yet clear indications of the artists’ lack of talent. The classic centerpiece of *Niveau unter Null* is the exhibition of all these failed works, which will be presented to the astonished audience for just under 55 hours.

Thursday, Dec. 17, starting at 8:30 p.m.

The Pub Quiz

Following the opening, we’ll take a detour into the culture of knowledge: To make the opening night an unforgettable experience, the vernissage will be enhanced with a popular pub quiz.

Featuring tricky rounds of questions, attractive prizes, and exciting group dynamics. And of course, there’s no shame here if your own knowledge strays significantly from the “Niveau unter Null” theme. Teams can register now at buero@angewandter.de.

Friday, Dec. 18, starting at 8:00 p.m.

Performance Night

On the second day of “Niveau unter Null,” it’s the turn of our colleagues from the writing, performing, and musical trades. They’ll take the stage to show that, when it comes to bad taste and lack of quality, they’re every bit the equal of the visual artists:

Embarrassing, contrived poems, amateurish performances, unrhythmic and clumsy dances, unimaginative animal impersonators, unathletic sports enthusiasts, and tone-deaf whistlers.

In short: everything you’ve always wanted to do but never dared to try in any other setting. Here’s your chance. And as always: pay to get in, or perform.

Saturday, Dec. 19, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Auction

The third and final day of Niveau unter Null. The auction team is getting ready for the annual finale. A great chance to quickly snag some inexpensive and original Christmas gifts. All exhibited works must go.

No mercy. This is where all those who don’t view culture as a celebration of their own creative potential—but rather as a way to use their own wallets to financially support others—can shine. Or those who firmly believe that one or another of the artists exhibiting here will eventually become famous and who speculate that they can bid on an object here for very little money that will be worth a fortune in the future.

Under the expert guidance of a proven auction team with extensive experience (“Another glass of champagne for the assistant, please!”), everything will be auctioned off in a single event. Since the number of works hasn’t been reduced this time, it’s likely to be another very long evening. And as always: there’s no reserve price, meaning every item starts at zero and the first bid is 1 cent. That’s how it’s going to be this time, too.

Don’t worry. Everything will be fine.
