In the organizer's words:
Science Meets Art – Biochemistry Meets Creativity: Cells, Viruses, and Proteins
The exhibition brings together science and art through biochemical themes, allowing visitors to experience their creative processes, questions, and results firsthand. The starting point is the research of Professor Sebastian Springer: the exhibits are based on data from his laboratory. The focus is on cells, viruses, and proteins, which have been artistically interpreted by artist Heike Seyffarth through painting, graphic art, digital experiments, and textile works.
Through visual and textual references, the exhibition reveals surprising commonalities between science and art. Both fields work experimentally, draw on existing knowledge, and use it to develop new perspectives. Creativity plays a central role in both—whether in designing scientific experiments or in transforming data into artistic forms of expression.
By documenting this interdisciplinary exchange, the exhibition also encourages an ongoing dialogue between science and art.
The exhibition is on view at the House of Science through October 17, 2026.
