Liola Mattheis lives in Berlin and works as an author. She studied philosophy and cultural studies, most recently in Lüneburg and Paris, and also took courses in creative writing at the Leipzig Institute for Literature. She currently works as a research associate at the Leibniz Center for Literary and Cultural Research. Her most recent publications have appeared in Triëdere and with TABLOID Publications, among others.
Eylül Berivan Kizilirmak was born in Ankara, Turkey. After completing a bachelor’s degree in film studies in İzmir, they worked in Istanbul in the fields of screenwriting and script consulting before beginning their master’s studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne in 2023. The artist/writer’s films and stories focus on everyday life in metropolitan cities, the past and present of working-class neighborhoods, and queer lives—neither closeted nor open—within heteronormative and queerphobic regimes.
Mateja Kardelis ( *2001, he/him) writes, directs, films, and translates in German, English, and Serbo-Croatian. In his artistic practice, he explores migration, memory, and multilingualism, often from a queer-feminist and post-migrant perspective. He is particularly interested in communities and lived realities that often remain invisible in societal narratives or exist on their margins.
Lei Macolata is ê̶͈ī̷̱̊n̴̤̭͂̽ ̶̻͎̒ḫ̴͂̈͟ė̷͕͕͡r̶̬͒a̶̠̍̒ü̸̡͔̊f̶̢̬̾b̷̮̔͜ë̶̱́̾s̵̮͔̆͛c̸̲̈́̑h̶̉͟w̶̩̄ö̵̰̠́r̷͉͗ę̸̜̈́n̶̳̯̉ë̶̞̜̓r̵̨̤̅̈́ ̴̲͚͠G̷͈̋̌e̶̗̅͂ǐ̴͚͍̈́s̶̹͓͋̂t̶̼̋ and the alias of musician and artist Lea Torcelli. Known to some for her raw performances with the art-punk band she-dog, Lei Macolata currently hosts the monthly show P̴o̴l̴y̴n̴o̴e̴ ̴D̴e̴e̴p̴ ̴F̴e̴e̴d̴ on Callshopradio. For “Auswärtslesung,” Lei Macolata opens yet another eerie rift in the underground and invites us to roam through the southern Italian wasteland from there. Torcelli studied Fine Arts at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with a focus on sound, performance, and installation, and is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Media Arts at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts. Her artistic practice focuses on experimental research and the creation of transformative spaces in which collective, ritualistic experiences are embedded. Collections emerge at the intersection of various media. These are expanded, questioned, and transformed into new, experiential narrative forms. In the process, experimental narratives—blurring the lines between ritual, myth, and fiction—become collective processes of transformation.
