Hacke has written several thousand columns over many decades, mainly in the Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, as well as more than thirty books. And what does he do now? He tells us how he did it. He also reads to us. But because he can't read everything (at least not in one evening), he only reads the best, yes, actually, the very best, the very funniest, the very thought-provoking, the very clever, the very wisest, so that you can say: He has actually spent his entire life as an author preparing for this evening, yes, exactly: for the best evening, no, the very best.

Axel Hacke is a writer who lives in Munich. He is famous for his column Das Beste aus aller Welt, which he has published every Friday in the Süddeutsche Zeitung magazine for decades. His books are bestsellers. His work has been awarded the Joseph Roth Prize, two Egon Erwin Kisch Prizes, the Theodor Wolff Prize and, most recently, the Ben Witter Prize 2019.
