Aya Irizuki: OBERONIA

In the organizer's words:

Butoh dancer Aya Irizuki, known from Doris Dörrie's film "Kirschblüten- Hanami" (2008), is coming back to Munich after almost ten years with her latest choreography. She is making her sixth guest appearance at the Pasinger Fabrik. The new solo is entitled Oberonia. The genus Oberonia comprises hundreds of orchid species that are widespread in the tropics. The dance piece is an invitation to a garden full of mysterious creatures and phenomena, Aya Irizuki explores these organic machines and their transformation processes with her body.

Born in 1983 in Kanagawa, Japan, Aya Irizuki studied fine arts and dance in Tokyo and London and has performed as a solo dancer and member of the Butoh company TAMAMO Koichi in Japan, USA, Canada, South Korea, Thailand, Germany, UK and Greece. Aya Irizuki lives with her family in Tokyo and travels to Munich especially for the performances.
