Clark, the owner of a run-down furniture store, discovers an invisible door in the basement of his shop. Soon he becomes obsessed with unraveling the mystery behind it and confides in his psychologist, Dr. Mary Kline. When she follows him there, something sinister—and dangerous—lurks behind the walls.
Bare, labyrinthine office hallways, endless beige-yellow walls, an incessant, unbearably loud hum of fluorescent lights. “Backrooms” depicts a new kind of nightmare—a deserted parallel world of repetitive, windowless floors that, at first glance, mirrors our reality yet slips further away with every step.
