One of THE summer movies of the year, based on a true story: John Davidson grows up in a small Scottish town in the early 1980s and, at the age of twelve, begins to exhibit pronounced nervous tics.

What would only be diagnosed years later as Tourette syndrome would henceforth define his daily life. Neither at school nor at home are his uncontrolled movements and spontaneous outbursts recognized as medical symptoms; instead, he is met with ridicule or punishment.

About 15 years later, John is still living with his mother and struggling with the side effects of strong medication. A chance encounter with his former classmate Murray and Murray’s mother, Dottie, changes his situation.

A close friendship develops between the two, through which John gradually gains more confidence and begins to forge his own path.
