The laid-back pothead Cake is in a bind: He’s gambled away most of the loot from a heist he pulled off with Kalle, a felon currently behind bars. When Kalle suddenly shows up at his door, he’s at a loss for what to do. Cake teams up with a buddy to pull off a heist at the shady freight forwarder Kampmann’s, which is when his problems really start.

Peter Thorwart’s feature film debut is crafted as a delightfully wicked heist ballad. This cheeky comedy stands out not only for its meticulous attention to detail regarding the Ruhr Valley underworld but also for its brilliant direction of the actors. Alongside young stars like Oliver Korritke and Markus Knüfken (both from “Paarungsverhalten”), Ralf Richter and the late Diether Krebs are particularly impressive. A heist comedy that won the New Talent Award at the 1999 Munich Film Festival.
