Baron Crâne
Founded in 2014, the Parisian trio made waves in the French music scene with their first album. The comparisons with Primus or Them Crooked Vultures didn't seem too far-fetched to anyone. Baron Crâne released two albums within just two years. However, the rapid rise to fame was not without consequences. After two line-up changes, only guitarist Léon Pinon-Chaby remained from the original line-up. Since then, drummer Léo Goizet and bassist Olivier Pain have joined the band. The newly formed trio came together and began work on their third album "Commotions". For the release, Baron Crâne cooperated for the first time with the label Mrs Red Sound, which is run by Mars Red Sky. With this third album and the new influences of the new band members, the band became even more multi-layered. Their variation on psychedelic rock is made even more interesting and unique by skillfully integrated excursions into funk and jazz. Their songs are instrumental, but their captivating journey through musical styles with sometimes progressive, sometimes heavy touches and absolute precision in their playing is inspiring and captivating across the board.
Purple Dawn
What is this that stands before me?
Purple Dawn! The doom power trio formed in Cologne at the end of 2019 and were soon considered an insider tip in the scene. With the unmistakable voice of singer/bassist Patrick Rose and the varied songwriting, which is influenced by bands such as Pentagram, Witchcraft, Alice in Chains, Windhand and a lot of classic rock in addition to the obligatory Sabbath worship, Purple Dawn stand out from the crowd of stoner and doom bands and have already left a lasting impression with their first, simply titled Peace & Doom cassette (2020). Signed to Electric Valley Records in 2021, Peace & Doom Session Vol. II was an impressive debut album that underlined the band's musical qualities and sold more than 500 copies in its first 20 weeks.
Live, the band releases an energy that makes the room float. Spherical parts are just as much a part of Purple Dawn's sound as massive walls of superfuzz riffs and guitarist Timo Fritz's expansive solos. Despite all the mood-laden heaviness, melodies always shine through that burn themselves into the listener's heart. The Cologne trio's reputation as an excellent live band has already brought Purple Dawn to club stages all over Germany and festivals such as the Freak Valley Festival, Hoflärm Festival and Swamp Fest Berlin.
