A Midsummer Night's Dream begins with a light-footed juggler and fairground atmosphere, which fits in wonderfully with the turbulent comedy. The Duke is looking forward to his wedding when an angry father bursts into the middle of the preparations. His unruly daughter loves Lysander, but is promised to Demetrius, whom the beautiful Helena in turn desires. On a fateful summer's night, an elf called Puck is up to mischief by mixing up the couples with the help of a love tincture, while a few trees away a rough male sextet devotes itself to acting. In other words, a turbulent 16th century soap opera.

The realization shows coherent and clever ideas, which Lafrenz always knows how to fill with wit when he takes the time and space to create them: hilarious, as he plays the rough-and-tumble craftsmen Schnauz, Schnock and Zettel in a fervent theater rehearsal; light as a feather and full of wit, as he flutters around as the hyper Puck.
