Bettina von Arnims musikalische Welten. Literarisch-musikalischer Salon
In the organizer's words:
What music did Bettina von Arnim write? And what did the world in which she moved as a writer, composer and political thinker sound like?
The literary-musical salon Bettina von Arnim's musical worlds combines chamber music, singing and academic impulses to create an evening between concert and discussion. The focus is on Bettina von Arnim's own compositions - long neglected and only recently rediscovered - as well as works from her musical environment.
The New York soprano and musicologist Dr. Gabrielle Ferrari and the Berlin pianist and composer Gerhardt Müller-Goldboom will present Bettina von Arnim's musical oeuvre for the first time in the context of the special exhibition "Out of the Shadows. Katharina Kippenberg and Women of the Goethe Era" at the Goethe Museum. The concert will be complemented by insights into Bettina von Arnim's life, her political and artistic activities and the transmission of her work, presented by Bettina von Arnim expert Dr. Dennis Schäfer.
The starting point of the evening is the music book Dedié à Spontini (1842), which is on display in the exhibition and in which Bettina von Arnim published settings of poems by Johann Wolfgang Goethe and Achim von Arnim.
