Beyond The Roots Large Ensemble

Beyond The Roots LARGE ENSEMBLE is an extension of the Cologne collective with internationally renowned guests. With House of Syntopia and Mathilde , two compositions written by Albrecht Maurer especially for this concert will be performed for the first time. They combine timbres from the Orient, the Far East and Western art music and allow the musicians involved to improvise and speak their own language. Spatially and intellectually separated elements are creatively and newly connected .

Beyond the Roots came together in Cologne in 2020 in the aftermath of the first lockdowns of the coronavirus pandemic. They initially organized streaming concerts in their own concert series, later also in front of an audience with guest musicians. The importance of personal encounters and coming together for a society has been painfully demonstrated during the years of restrictions. All the more reason to be excited about this new ensemble with its transculturally influenced art music.
