The Birdland Big Band is Hamburg’s premier jazz ensemble and the first resident big band at one of the Hanseatic city’s oldest jazz clubs. Featuring top-tier members of Hamburg’s jazz scene, this 17-piece band will bring the swing and big band era to life by performing the all-too-rarely played works of the great big band composers Thad Jones, Duke Ellington, and Sammy Nestico to the Birdland stage—with respect for tradition and the courage to incorporate their own musical influences.
