BIRDLAND BROTHERS
These five "Usual Suspects" - brothers Ralph on tenor sax, Wolff on drums, and their closest musical friends - have spent a lot of time on the stage (and in front of the bar) at BIRDLAND since a young age. By their own account, they studied at the Sheboygan Conservatory of Music* for three years before being dismissed early for good behavior. Tonight, they'll put their own spin on timeless jazz classics "live" - though the result could somehow still come straight from a 1950s or '60s LP - and also check to see if Billy Wilder's three important rules in filmmaking translate directly to music-making: "Thou shalt not bore, thou shalt not bore, and thou shalt not bore!"
