Black Foxxes: British DIY indie rockers on the road again next spring after a successful European tour in 2024.
Four German shows in March in Cologne, Munich, Berlin and Hamburg.
Presented by Rausgegangen Munich
In a phase of rock music in which even the most hardened bands no longer leave anything to chance, an angry, highly impulsive formation like the Black Foxxes is a sensation in terms of its artistic unambiguity. Their rock sound, charged with the fury of early punk and reminiscent of complex grunge epigones such as Brand New, achieves a rare balance of sonic eruptions and the stylistic flair of a great songwriter.
The Black Foxxes are also very close to the tradition that the best art comes from the suffering of its creator. This applies in particular to their singer, guitarist and mastermind Mark Holley, who has been struggling with uncontrollable, relapsing panic attacks since early childhood. Even countless attempts at therapy brought little relief. Out of this helplessness, he began to shape his fears and frustrations into chords and lyrics. For in music he found what no therapy had been able to offer him: inner peace. For the first time in his life.
Over the course of three albums released between 2016 and 2020, Holley established his band, which oscillates between indie, alternative and emocore, as a strong creative force and, with the growing support of fans and the media, secured a firm place on the emotional rock'n'roll map. After the second album "Reiði", the band underwent an all-round renewal - apart from Holley, the entire line-up changed once. Since then, it has become increasingly clear that Holley is prepared to give up any protection of intimacy and privacy in order to get to the real emotions. An artist who has found his own special way of verbalizing thoughts, emotions and fears.
With the fourth album "The Haar", released this spring, which the band financed in the best DIY manner via crowdfunding, Holley, together with drummer Finn McClean and bassist Jack Barrett, goes one step further to combine music and personal messages into an inherent work.
Their intention was to emphasize instinct, musical integrity and personal chemistry between the musicians. Because the idea behind Black Foxxes is to never contain or manipulate the flow between the players - a flow that features synthesizers, distorted and a range of left-field sounds alongside classic alternative rock characteristics. Many live recordings on their social media pages prove just how powerful and intense this becomes in concert, where their songs condense into true rock monoliths.
