Grooves from the depths of the electronic music spectrum form the backbone of our final Friday Klubnacht featuring Giegling founder DJ Dustin, Kynant Records & Refuge Worldwide founder Richard Akingbehin, and Workshop affiliate Willow: artists who share the conviction that sometimes, the best dance music doesn’t need any big spectacle.

DJ Dustin co-founded Giegling, the German collective, alongside Konstantin and Leafar Legov; their unhurried, stubbornly individual approach has made it one of the most distinctive labels of the past decade, and this attitude has shaped his own artistic style as well. After roughly 14 years, he decided to step back from running the label to focus on what drew him to electronic music in the first place: DJing.

Richard Akingbehin, meanwhile, co-founded the Berlin community radio station Refuge Worldwide and runs Kynant Records, whose releases by Tikiman (aka Paul St. Hilaire), .Vril, and Brendon Moeller carve out a quiet space between techno, dub, and ambient, while his own sets brim with dub-inflected techno and house with touches of minimal.

Manchester-based Willow, a DJ and producer affiliated with Workshop, put it plainly: “I like that stripped-back, sexy shit. When I got into house and techno, that’s the vibe I’ve always been looking for.” Her breakout track “Feel Me” embodies exactly that, but anyone who’s seen her perform knows she’s about so much more: “groovy stuff you can really get down to, with a sick bassline.”
