Bonn-Bastic Christmas Spectacular | English Comedy Gameshow

Celebrate the festive season the only way we know how—by having a laugh and a fantastic time with your fellow international and internationally minded friends!

The Bonn-Bastic Christmas Spectacular will bring together everything we love and cherish—surprise gifts, variety acts, audience participation, and a special message from Santa himself (if we can’t get Santa because he’s busy this time of year, we’ll reenact the birth of Jesus for your entertainment instead. Maybe. Probably not.)

Whoever said Christmas isn’t funny hasn’t spent it with a bunch of comedians!

Regardless of which holiday you’re celebrating this festive season (or not celebrating at all), we hope to see you at our crazy little experimental evening of chaos and merriment!

Who should come to this show?
Anyone who’s tired of standing in line for mulled wine at a Christmas market, anyone so in love with the holiday season that no amount of celebration is enough, anyone who absolutely hates this time of year (we’ll cheer you right up OR give you another reason to hate December), and anyone who was supposed to plan their office Christmas party but forgot to make reservations somewhere—BRING THEM ALL TO US! Yes, even Jürgen!

Who shouldn’t come to this show?
Anyone who takes themselves a bit too seriously. This is going to be a very silly kind of fun.

Bonn-Bastic is hosted and produced by Mari Volar—an international comedian based right here in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Originally from cold, internet-savvy Estonia, Mari has been living in Germany and making jokes about it since 2019. Her witty remarks on living, loving, and laughing around the world have won over audiences in over 15 countries so far—and counting.
She has opened for numerous touring comedians such as Mario Adrion, Dragos, Elena Gabrielle, and Victor Patrascan, as well as performing at various festivals (Edinburgh Fringe, Women in Comedy Festival Manchester, Hundertpro, Tallinn Fringe, Festrogen Festival). For the past year, she’s been trying to make Bonn the next comedy capital of Germany ;)

A word of warning:
This show will include swearing and crude language, as well as the occasional joke about Germans being a cold people with OCD-like tendencies. It just can’t be helped. We hope you understand.
This show is pro-immigration, pro-queer people, pro-diversity, and intersectionally feminist.
