20 years ago Calexico released their outstanding album "Feast of Wire". To celebrate this anniversary, the band led by Joey Burns and John Convertino announces an expanded reissue to be released on May 26.
Even before Calexico released their fourth album, it was hard to tell where and how to categorize the band. Since their 1996 debut album "Spoke," the duo from Tucson, Arizona, had developed a distinctive musical blend. The albums "The Black Light" (1998) and "Hot Rail" (2000) built on a freedom Joey and John had also exercised as part of Giant Sand until recently. "Feast of Wire" was the preliminary culmination with its brilliant blend of desert rock, Texmex, Latin, late-night jazz and spaghetti western sounds, immortalized in simply great songs and instrumentals.
Calexico has spent the better part of the last three decades exploring the dusty musical frontier of the American Southwest, writing unique, cinematic sounds as mysterious and grand as the arid desert landscapes that inspired them.
