Campus Kino: Das Versprechen (Spielfilm)

In the fall of 1961, Sophie (Meret Becker) and Konrad (Anian Zollner), along with some friends, attempt to flee to West Berlin through the sewer system. A single moment determines their fate: Konrad is left behind and arrested, and the construction of the Berlin Wall separates the young couple for decades.

From then on, Sophie and Konrad live in two different worlds. Secret meetings—including some in Prague—keep their hope of a life together alive, but political events and personal decisions repeatedly put their love to the test. “The Promise” powerfully depicts the impact of Germany’s division on the lives of two people, spanning the period from the construction of the Wall through the Cold War to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
