Campus-Kino: Good Bye, Lenin! (Spielfilm)

In October 1989, Christiane Kerner (Katrin Sass) falls into a coma after suffering a heart attack. When she wakes up eight months later, the GDR has disappeared and the world around her has changed radically. To protect her weak heart, her son Alex (Daniel Brühl) decides to keep the fall of the Berlin Wall a secret and recreate the GDR within their own home. Using homemade episodes of “Aktuelle Kamera,” furniture from the curb, and Spreewald pickles, he creates a perfect illusion. But the more German reunification progresses, the harder it becomes for Alex to maintain the facade. Director Wolfgang Becker created a captivatingly charming tragicomedy full of original ideas that delighted critics and audiences alike and received numerous awards.
