"When I want sax, I call Candy." This sentence from the mouth of funk legend Prince - placed in the middle of the music video for his song Partyman - made Candy Dulfer famous for good. But the then 20-year-old saxophonist was no longer a blank slate: as the daughter of a renowned jazz musician, she started playing herself at the age of six; at 14 she founded her own band and had celebrated her first sensational success shortly before Partyman : Lily Was Here together with Eurythmics guitarist Dave Stewart - still one of her biggest hits today. And that was just the beginning! In addition to live and studio appearances with the big names in the industry (Aretha Franklin, Pink Floyd, Van Morrison and Beyoncé, to name but a few), the Dutchwoman has been a successful solo artist for decades. Her trademarks: funky grooves, smooth jazz - and obvious fun making music with her bandmates. In addition to her world-class performance on the saxophone, Candy Dulfer also sings and presents with a great deal of wit and charm. A concert highlight not to be missed!
