Christiane Olivier & Vera Deckers: GenXX

Two powerhouse women share the stage for one evening. Christiane Olivier and Vera Deckers, both from Cologne, took Germany’s stages by storm back when stand-up comedy was just getting started in the country and laundry was actually still being washed during the Nightwash shows at Brüsseler Platz.

Christiane Olivier has always loved interacting with the audience: her humor is biting and always authentic. With pure stage energy and razor-sharp wit, she captivates audiences both live and on TV (Nuhr on ARD, Germany’s Best Comedians). She has been performing on stages both big and small for years. With a keen eye, precision, and charisma, she makes the audience laugh but also gives them food for thought.

Vera Deckers is “Germany’s funniest psychologist.” She captivates audiences with her keen eye for absurd everyday situations and communication patterns. With her solo shows, she performs at established theaters such as the “Unterhaus” in Mainz and the “Kabarett-Theater Die Wühlmäuse” in Berlin. On TV, Vera appears regularly on “Ladies Night” on WDR and in productions by the Quatsch Comedy Club, most recently on the “Quatsch Comedy Show” on Pro7.

For years, the two comedians didn’t cross paths, as the ironclad rule was always to cast only one woman per show. Yet they have a lot in common. Both tackle socially critical themes while also sharing personal insights; they have a strong stage presence but don’t take themselves too seriously. In their personal lives, they share a love of Asian food and an unrequited passion for tennis—one has back problems, the other is just too lazy.
