chucuXchucu pres. MANO A MANO #01: CUMBIA VS SALSA
In the organizer's words:
CUMBIA VS SALSA - Day of Love and Friendship
Two heavyweights of Latin American dance music step into the ring.
In one corner: CUMBIA—born on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, traveling across the continent and evolving along the way. From Colombian classics to psychedelic Peruvian sounds, Mexican sonidero culture, and beyond.
In the other corner: SALSA – shaped by the Caribbean and New York, blending son, guaguancó, mambo, boogaloo, and countless other influences into a sound that spread back across the Americas.
A true MANO A MANO between two Latin American giants, represented by four DJs playing exclusively on vinyl.

But hey! This isn’t a battle over which music is better: cumbia and salsa have never been confined to clear-cut boundaries. Both are stories of movement, migration, and exchange—music constantly reshaped as records, rhythms, and people traveled between cities, countries, and continents.
So expect classics alongside deeper cuts, with the lines between the two corners becoming increasingly blurred as the night goes on.
And since this first edition coincides with Día del Amor y la Amistad, there can only be one winner anyway: the dance floor.
MANO A MANO #01: CUMBIA VS SALSA
Vinyl only. Four DJs. Two corners. One dance floor.
