The members of Coach Party all grew up on the Isle of Wight, and since, according to singer Jess Eastwood, "it's only a matter of time before you meet pretty much everyone on the island", it was only natural that the paths of these music fans would eventually cross. They either worked in the island's venues or were already making music together and kept running into each other at the same gigs. At some point, Eastwood and guitarist Steph Norris decided to form a band. The two quickly realized that their connection was something special and that they complemented each other perfectly in songwriting. A short time later, guitarist Joe Perry and drummer Guy Page joined them and the Coach Party line-up was complete. Their first single "Oh Lola" was released in 2019, followed by several EPs, and the long-awaited debut album "KILLJOY" was finally released in September. Musically, the quartet draws inspiration from a wide range of artists, but always returns to old legends such as Nirvana, Sonic Youth or The Strokes and incorporates influences from contemporary artists such as Wolf Alice, The Big Moon or Tame Impala. But ultimately, Coach Party's main drive to write and perform music comes from the "often entertaining struggle of real life". The band still live and work on the Isle of Wight - Eastwood on a farm, Page in a music studio and Norris and Perry in various cafés. But that could soon change when Coach Party finally and deservedly take off and leave the island for the world.
