Max Baitinger (Leipzig, comic artist, Rotopol, Reprodukt, illustrator, co-organizer of the Leipzig comic festival Millionairs Club) is perhaps one of the rare breed of illustrators for illustrators. You can watch him think in his pictures. I can't read his subtly funny stories slowly enough because there is so much to see. Although the (mostly analog-drawn) images are very clear, their astonishing inventiveness demands attentive, alert reading. Max's latest graphic novel, Hallimasch, has just been published by Reprodukt. He's bringing us some books and pictures to the workshop talk (a word that has been laboriously suppressed in this text: eye candy) and I think we absolutely have to talk afterwards!
