In the organizer's words:
Workshop talk: Comic artist Max Baitinger in conversation with Leo Leowald
Laberfeuer #39 with Max Baitinger
Max Baitinger (Leipzig, comic artist, Rotopol, Reprodukt, illustrator, co-organizer of the Leipzig comic festival Millionairs Club) is perhaps one of the rare breed of illustrators for illustrators. You can watch him think in his pictures. I can't read his subtly funny stories slowly enough because there is so much to see. Although the (mostly analog-drawn) images are very clear, their astonishing inventiveness demands attentive, alert reading. Max's latest graphic novel, Hallimasch, has just been published by Reprodukt. He's bringing us some books and pictures to the workshop talk (a word that has been laboriously suppressed in this text: eye candy) and I think we absolutely have to talk afterwards!
This time more than ever: if you don't come, you've missed it! Please spread the word!
Am Laberfeuer is a lecture/conversation/meeting point/jour fixe/anti-instagram for comic makers and interested parties and usually takes place on the 1st Thursday of the month. After the respective guest has talked about their work or a comic-related topic for ten to fifteen minutes, everyone talks with and through each other in a friendly manner. We are on site and documentation is kept to a minimum.
Am Laberfeuer is organized and moderated by Leo Leowald, who himself draws the comic strip Zwarwald.
Am Laberfeuer takes place in the ComicLab at Coeln Comic Haus.
