Cryptobiosis // ein AUSWÄRTSSPIEL der studiobühneköln

In the organizer's words:

Microbiology – Performance – Music
A co-production by Constantin Leonhard and studiobühneköln
An AWAY GAME by studiobühneköln at the ORANGERIE Theater

Microbes can convert toxins, devour cancer cells, produce oxygen, and write poetry. Tiny, opaque creatures take the stage as powerful beacons of hope amid the ecological crisis. A dizzying glimpse into the world of rotifers, dinoflagellates, and foraminifera reveals: Nothing is static; everything moves and co-evolves with one another.

A magnificent jumble. Biologists like Lynn Margulis call out to us: This planet is a place of radical collaboration! Our Homo sapiens bodies are a collaborative community of trillions of microorganisms, and nothing and no one does anything entirely on their own. Comfort and hope for all who are willing to listen. Using a high-resolution microscope, an analog synthesizer, and their more-than-human bodies, the performers in *Cryptobiosis* encounter themselves and the audience as science-fiction beings who connect with the environment through text, movement, and sound. A poetic engagement with the realms of the invisible and the other within the self.
