culture:insel – Fridays at Neustädter Markt

Neustädter Markt is a green square in the heart of eastern Leipzig—with great potential to become a lively gathering place for the neighborhood. With theculture:inselproject, we want to start right here and bring the square to life during the warmer months with creative, open activities for children and teens.

From April through October, we invite you every Friday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. to Neustadt Market to join in, try new things, get creative, and enjoy the outdoors together.

The activities are free, accessible to everyone, and require no registration. They’re primarily aimed at children from the neighborhood, but parents, friends, and anyone else who’s curious are also warmly welcome. In case of bad weather, the activities will take place in the hall of the Pöge-Haus, directly across from Neustädter Markt.

September 18: PRINTING with Buchkinder Leipzig e.V.

September 25: KLANGFÜHL – Cyanotype

Over the course of the months, many small creations, ideas, and stories will emerge. At the end of the project, these will be showcased in a joint exhibition at the Pöge-Haus—for everyone who participated or is curious about what was created in the square.EXHIBITION on October 9, 2026, 2:00–6:00 p.m.

It takes place as part of “Open Air Culture” in collaboration with alliance partners Buchkinder e.V. and OFT Tante Hedwig e.V.
