Prayers for peace, Monday demonstrations, mass exodus—in 1989, events in the GDR unfolded at a rapid pace and led to the fall of the Berlin Wall within a few months. This guided tour for parents with babies through our permanent exhibition takes a look at the lead-up to the Peaceful Revolution, the mass protests in the fall, the fall of the socialist rulers, and the path to reunification.

The tour is tailored to the needs of parents with babies. It lasts a concise 45 minutes; afterward, there is time for discussion and questions for the museum guide. A room for breastfeeding, changing diapers, and soothing babies is available. Since there is limited space for strollers in the exhibition, we recommend using a baby carrier for your baby.

This guided tour is part of the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum Leipzig’s new “Parent Time” program, which invites parents with babies on several dates throughout the year to explore sections of the permanent exhibition as well as the current temporary exhibition in greater depth.
